We are seeking a committed and experienced senior Children’s Social Worker to join the Safeguarding Team as Deputy Team Manager on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands in the capacity of Child Protection Conference Chair & Safeguarding Manager.
The salary for this post is £63,800 – £71,865 per annum

Reporting to the Team Manager, as the successful applicant you will;
– assist in the management of the effective provision of social work services provided by the Children Safeguarding Team. This will include Child in Need, Child Protection, Children in Care, court proceedings and CYCT work. 
– support the Practice Manager of the team in developing and sustaining resources whilst maintaining morale, flexibility and quality of service to safeguard and promote the wellbeing of children and young people. 
– deputise for the Practice Manager in their absence.

This includes undertaking work with children subject to care requirements in accordance with the Children (Guernsey and Alderney) Law 2008.
The Law has introduced fundamental and significant changes to how concerns relating to children and young people are dealt with and is based broadly on the Children’s Hearing System in Scotland.

Person requirements:
Qualified Social Worker with current UK registration
Minimum of three years post-registration experience in a Children’s Safeguarding/Child Protection role
Experience to comprise; Court Work, Supervision of junior Social Workers, Social Work Assistants and Students 
Be in possession of a clean and current car driving licence; own vehicle required, (mileage expensed at full rate)
