Applications are invited from experienced Registered Nurses to join the Inpatient Unit team at our client’s Hospice based in Hastingwood, Essex, just by Junction 7 of the M11.
As the Senior Nurse on the Inpatient Unit, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the day to day running of the IPU.
Your role will also include management duties, audit, research and education.
This is a full-time post, but we are open to hearing from candidates seeking to negotiate a part-time hours opportunity.
The shifts are either 7:30 – 8:00 or 19:30 – 20:00 on a 24/7 rota. Due to the location, you will need to be a driver.

Rated ‘Outstanding’ by CQC, this employer is a UK Charity with a purpose-built Hospice based in Hastingwood, Essex which cares for people across West Essex and the East Hertfordshire border.
The inpatient unit has eight en-suite rooms and offers a ‘home from home’ environment, caring for people with life-limiting illnesses.
You will complete the fully-funded European Certificate for Palliative Care and Advanced Communications qualifications within your first six months in post.

You will:
Prioritise and delegate work fairly and appropriately according to skill mix within the team.
Act as a role model at all times and contribute to the provision of high quality, specialist nursing care.
Actively contribute to MDT decision making about admissions and discharges.
Provide effective managerial and clinical leadership of IPU staff in conjunction with or in the absence of the IPU Manager.
Supervise and mentor junior Nurses and Care Assistants, ensuring that high standards of care are delivered.
Support patients families and significant others.

Person requirements
Registered Nurse with full UK NMC registration
At least two years post-registration experience including at least some exposure to palliative care patients 
Good organisational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively in an emotionally demanding environment
Good management skills
Own transport
