Applications are invited from suitably committed and experienced senior Social Workers to join the Children in Care Team as Deputy Team Manager on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.
The salary range for this post is £69,469 up to £78,250 dependant on experience 

Reporting to the Team Manager you will;
– assist and provide effective leadership and supervision to the Children in Care (CIC) Team and Leaving Care Services. 
– assist in the management of the effective provision of social work services provided by the CIC Team and Leaving Care service.
– ensure the core functions of the team operate to a good quality and are effective in safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and Young people in line with the Corporate Parenting Strategy and the Children and Young People’s Plan.
– develop and sustain resources whilst maintaining morale, flexibility and quality of service.
– deputise for the Team Manager in the Manager’s absence. 

The Children in Need Team is responsible for undertaking assessments of children and families, developing intervention plans for children in need and supporting children, young people, and their families to achieve positive outcomes including those children subject of Care Requirements in accordance with the Children (Guernsey and Alderney) Law 2008. The Law has introduced fundamental and significant changes to how concerns relating to children and young people are dealt with and is based broadly on the Children’s Hearing System in Scotland.

The island of Guernsey is in the Channel Islands and has a population of 65,000. It has some of Britain’s finest and best-kept beaches, an especially mild and sunny climate, and an offbeat, historic harbour town in St. Peter’s Port, the island’s capital.

The States of Guernsey delivers a diverse range of care; their Social Work service provides an excellent Children and Families Service, supported by Social Workers recruited to a very high standard.

Person requirements:
– Qualified Social Worker with current full UK statutory registration 
– At least five years post-registration UK experience in Children and Families statutory settings.
– Extensive knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, local and UK best practice guidance and regulations, National Minimum Standards and policies and procedures pertinent to Children in Care and Leaving Care services. 

– Supervisory or Management experience including deputising for Management in their absence 
– Be in possession of a clean and current car driving licence; own vehicle required, (mileage expensed at full rate)
